The Book of Knowledge: Rembrandt

Rembrandt was an amazing artist, to say the least. I am awed by his use of the warm, rich browns and shadows and textures. His way of using the bones of the face as a foundation is another thing to notice. I took a drawing with charcoal class once, not too long ago, and we focused on Rembrandt's art, as a lot of his works were done with charcoal. Charcoal blends out so nicely, far better than pencil. I think that is in part how Rembrandt shaded clothing, faces, and features so well. I am currently doing an online art class, and we're just getting to the material section, and I hope we look at Rembrandt there too.
