I went outside to gather spring-time pictures, and I was not disappointed. When I didn't see anything to take a picture of, I just sat for a minute and looked around, and what do you know, I noticed something I hadn't seen before.

Spring, at long last!

I went out and took some pictures today. Mostly of Sunny, but some of the GREEN that is happening around here!

Isn't she pretty?!?!

We only have on little blue flower plant blooming right now, and today I saw a honey-bee on it, so I quickly snapped some photos. This is my favorite:

And then the little bush that always looks like mini roses as it comes up:

What's your favorite thing about spring? The smell, the fresh air, the sunshine??

Baking and de-stressing

I made gluten-free chocolate donuts yesterday, and right now I have cookies in the oven! There's something about baking that I really enjoy, and I usually find it relaxing --- something about the warmth, delicious smells, creating yumminess out of plain ingredients.

The gluten-free donuts were okay --- the glaze for them is amazing, but the donut itself is more like a regular chocolate cake. It's not quite as dense as a donut should be and a little dry. I'm wondering if adding some sour cream to the batter would help with both of those. But otherwise they're quite enjoyable. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being horrible and 10 being the best) I'd give them a solid 8, I think.

I am making the cookies (chocolate chip) partly for my Dad, who can tell when things are gluten-free and doesn't really enjoy them, and partly for the farrier who is coming later this week. I'll throw some of the cookies in the freezer to keep them fresh for him. And Dad will eat the rest 😉. Well, my sister and I will get some too. We'll need the chocolate to help our brains on the finals and the concert.

What's your favorite kind of cookie or donut?

P.S. Yes, I spell doughnut, donut. It just fits better.

Working away....

Hello friends! It's been a little while since I wrote about everything. I hope your Easter was full of rejoicing! 😊

Well, I have my first ever job application form here. . . Eeep, how did that happen? I'm applying for a summer job at a local grocery store. I'm hoping to work from June until school starts. May is going to be far too busy to be trying to settle in with a job.

Coming up: Two concerts on Tuesday (from 8:15am-3:30pm), with dress rehearsal going late into the night on Monday. Then Saturday I take the dreaded ACT test! Then I'll be performing in a student recital on piano (gasp! First time for everything, I guess) in just over a week. I'm playing this Mozart. That's it for April right now, and I'm concentrating on school and getting good grades. I had a flop with my Algebra though. 😔

May is going to be CRAZY! To start things off with a bang we have a concert on May 1st. Then the weekend after on Saturday is a big living history event nearby that we must help at, and a friend's senior recital, and then the next day, is another friend's senior recital that I have to be at, since I'm playing. 😊 And then a few days later we all fly out to NH for my Grandpa's wedding, so that will be an adventure. When we get back I'll have a few days and then it's my violin teacher's student recital in the cities, so I'll have to drive in for that. And that is May.

Providing all goes well, I'll start work in June. There is a wedding I'm playing for in June, but it is on a weekend so I don't think it will interfere with working. When July comes around I'll have to take a week off work, so I can go to camp again.

OH, and my teacher said I can do the competition again in the Spring! Yay! I said I was doing something baroque again. 🙂

I think that's about all for now. How has your spring been going?
